Obituary for Jerome Philip "Jerry" Karas

KARAS – JEROME PHILLIP KARAS, age 84, of Comstock Park, entered into eternal rest with his family by his side on Sunday, September 22, 2019. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joan (Hansknecht) Karas; parents, Stanley K. Karas, Sr., and Josephine (Wabich) Karas; siblings, Marion L. (Mary) Karas, Raymond G. (Delores) Karas, Bernard J. (Pauline) Karas, Sr. Margaret M. Karas, SSND, Dorothy A. Karas, (spouses, Gerald Sokol and Frank Budnick) and Richard T. (Mary) Karas. Jerry is survived by his children, Joe (Helen) Karas, Mark (Luanne) Karas, Chris (Laurie) Karas, Pete Karas, Anne (Francis) Nemecek, Laura (Ric) Mulholland, and Anthony (Chrisi) Karas; and families, siblings, Stanley K. (Dorothy) Karas, Charles R. (Christa) Karas and Edmund A. (Bernadine) Karas; 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His faith was very important to him. Jerry was a member of Local Union No. 47, the Association of Heat and Frost Insulation. He served his country in the United States Army in the South Pacific. The family will greet family and friends on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue N.W., Comstock Park, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m., with Deacon Jerry Roersma. The Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1200 Alpine Church Road, Comstock Park with Rev. Father Thomas G. Simons presiding. Private interment will be held in Resurrection Cemetery. In memory of Jerry, please consider memorial contributions to Holy Trinity Church or Faith Hospice.
