Obituary

CROSS–Thomas M. Cross, 60, of Comstock Park, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 13, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Lorraine Cross; and brother, Ronald Cross. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Sherri; children, Tom Cross Jr., Blaire Barbaria, Randy Scofield, Eric Cross, and Josh (Katie) Cross; sister, Diane Cross; brothers, George Cross, and Robert (Anne) Cross; grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Tom grew up in Lombard, Illinois and then moved to the Upper Peninsula to Daggett, Michigan. Tom enlisted in the military, and served his country as a Military Police officer in Germany. He retired from the Grand Rapids Post Office. During his employment, Tom served on the NALC Branch 56 union board as Vice President. Tom enjoyed getting together with friends and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Tom especially enjoyed going out often with his friend John Phillips for pie and coffee and occassionally to play cards. He was active with the Boy Scouts and volunteered his time helping mission families get started in the United States with Zion Lutheran Church. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park, on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The celebration of Tom's life will be Thursday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, at Zion Lutheran Church, 582 Lamoreaux Dr. NW, Comstock Park with Pastor Julie Schneider-Thomas as celebrant and under the auspice of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. In memory of Tom, please consider memorial contributions to Zion Lutheran Church.

Tom was a great man and always had wisdom and knowledge to share with me. He always tried to straighten me and Eric out when we found ourselves in some trouble but always came in a caring way, not anger. Going to miss ya bud, RIP
